In our first story, after fighting it for years, the NFL is now embracing sports betting. For a long time, the league has been concerned that gambling will jeopardize the integrity of the game. However, after the betting has been legalized in most states, league executives now see it as a significant source of revenue.

This season, the NFL and its teams are expected to profit about $270 million from sports betting. Some experts think that the market can grow to up to $1 billion annually. The league already has official partnerships with Ceasars, Draftkings, and FanDuel and has infused game broadcasts with a lot of betting content. Still, going forward, some balance is needed, as too much gambling content may easily alienate non-betting fans.

Next up, the city of Chicago will have to wait on its first casino a bit longer. At the moment, the whole project depends on the interest of major gaming operators. As it seems, most of them consider Chicago casino a pretty risky bet.

Initially, the deadline for interested developers to submit their proposals was on Monday. Nevertheless, after failing to attract sufficient interest, the city is now extending the deadline to the end of October. However, the main obstacle still remains. The future operator will face a 40% gaming tax rate which has caused the majority of the potential bidders to pass on the project. It remains to be seen if the extended timeline will change anything, as the city struggles to find a suitable partner.

In our next story, a big week for casino players in Henderson, Nevada. On Monday, two guests bet big playing video poker and it paid off. One of them, a visitor at the Green Valley Ranch casino, won $100,000 after hitting the royal flush on the Triple Double Bonus Poker machine. The lucky player won the massive prize after betting $125.

Across the town, at the Sunset Station casino, another player had the lady luck smile on him. He wagered 50 bucks on Ultimate X Poker Bonus Streak and also landed the royal flush with multiple multipliers. In total, the anonymous customer pocketed $90,000.

These two wins were the cherry on top of a great week in Vegas, as players hit big wins across the Valley.

In our last story this week, Twitch is cracking down on the gambling content. After the year-long debate whether Twitch should allow gambling content, the platform has finally made a move on this issue. In the latest Creator Update, the platform has announced that affiliate links and referral codes to gambling sites are now prohibited. The new rule should prevent harmful scams and create a safer environment on the platform.

Twitch took this action after numerous major creators voiced their concerns over gambling content and asked for its complete removal. The platform won't ban the gambling streams altogether, but the newly imposed restrictions are definitely a step in the right direction. Still, they will continue to monitor the situation and may update its policies in the future.
