In our first story, a southern Indiana resident won the biggest jackpot in the French Lick Casino history. Last Sunday, the lucky customer struck gold as he won almost $700,000 playing the Wild Party slot machine. The best part of the story is that the player won all this money after betting only $1,
The French Lick Casino has been in business for 16 years and has never had a payout as huge as this one. The biggest previously recorded jackpot, back in 2013, was $265,880. The big win got everyone at the casino excited, too. It's not every day that a casino in Indiana has a jackpot this big. The management hopes that this huge win will attract even more customers to their establishment.
Next up, a customer in the Wind Creek Casino won big but was still left empty-handed. The 40-year-old man was playing the slot machine at the casino when he hit the jackpot worth $1,956. However, he lost it all in a matter of moments. As the player left the machine, he somehow forgot to grab the printed voucher needed to cash out. Perhaps the excitement for the big win was too much for him.
Still, the ticket quickly found a new owner. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, another customer pounced on the opportunity to earn some free money. The thief grabbed the voucher, took it to the kiosk, and cashed it out. So far, the state troopers have offered no additional information on the case.
In our next story, a New York-based real estate investment firm has emerged as the biggest landowner in Las Vegas. VICI Properties has struck a $17.2 billion deal with MGM Resorts to purchase seven of their flagship properties. The real estate firm already owns Harrah’s Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, and a plot of undeveloped land east of the Strip. The properties belonging to the company will be leased back to the original operators who will continue to run them. So, for customers, nothing will change.
VICI's current properties already have close to 17,500 hotel rooms and the new deal will add about 33,000 more. The latest acquisition will establish the company as the leader among real estate investment trusts and drive the estimated enterprise value to $45 billion.
In our last story this week. cryptocurrency is of the main reasons for the stalled negotiation on the new infrastructure bill. The Senate appears to be divided on how closely the bipartisan bill should regulate the crypto market.
The proposal introduces new tax reporting obligations for crypto traders. However, this provision has opponents in both parties. The crypto proponents believe that miners and software providers should be exempt from the tax. The administration agrees but believes that broad exemptions may provide a loophole for the industry to exploit. We'll see if the two sides will be able to find a middle ground and pass the new legislature. The common goal is to provide funding for the bill while still allowing the crypto industry to thrive.
