In our first story this week, Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel in Natchez is now operating under new ownership. The smallest casino in Mississippi has been sold to Saratoga Casino Holdings. New York-based company already owns casinos in Saratoga Springs, New York, and Black Hawk, Colorado.

Magnolia Bluffs Casino, located on the bank of the Mississippi River, opened in 2012 and until now, was operated by the local company, the Premier Gaming Group. New owners don't plan any drastic changes and will continue to operate under the already agreed terms with the local government. The arrangement includes the ongoing lease and the revenue sharing agreement. The transaction still has to be approved by the state gaming regulators, but that's expected to happen within a few months.

Next up, cryptocurrency casinos are becoming more and more popular among American gamblers. Crypto gambling platforms, commonly based overseas, are making the most of the opportunity created by the relatively loose regulations in this field.

Online Casinos based in the US face strict rules, especially concerning registration and deposit methods. On the other hand, crypto casinos, as a part of a decentralized system, are much harder for government to keep the track of. Their customers commonly don't go through background checks and can deposit funds in untraceable cryptocurrency instead of using credit cards or bank transfers. Of course, this raises money-laundering and responsible gaming concerns. However, as the crypto casino market grows, we can expect government agencies to try to gain more control over their operations.

In our next story, a woman from Quincy, Massachusetts, has been arrested last week in connection with the criminal loansharking operation in Encore Boston Harbor Casino. 50-year-old Kimanh Le, who some gamblers may have seen as their guardian angel, is now facing the charges on four counts of criminal usury, AKA loansharking.

According to the statement from the Attorney General’s Office, Le offered loans at 5% interest per day or 10% interest per week. Of course, this is way above the maximum legal interest rate in the state, which stands at 20% annually. Allegedly, she provided loans in the form of cash money or casino chips. Besides Encore Casino, she also ran her operation at other gaming establishments in Norfolk and Suffolk counties.

In our last story, last Friday night was rather special at the Rolling Hils Casino in Northern California. The casino guests were treated to a surprise showing from Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons from the one and only KISS band.

The famous rock stars were visiting to celebrate the first anniversary of the Rock and Brews restaurant which operates within the casino. The iconic duo actually founded the Rock and Brew chain, back in 2010. Speaking to the audience, Paul Stanley took the opportunity to thank the Paskenta band of Nomlaki Indians for their hospitality and for their role in bringing the restaurant to the Northstate. Fans of the legendary band had an opportunity to taste a KISS-themed cake and attend the meet-and-greet with their rock heroes.
