In our first story this week, Illinois regulators have approved the plan for the development of the new Danville casino. On Thursday, the state's Gaming Board has unanimously voted to greenlight the construction on the location just west of Illinois' border with Indiana, about 150 miles south from Chicago.

The future complex will feature a 41,500-square-foot gaming floor with 500 slot machines and 14 table games. In addition, the casino will have a sportsbook facility and two restaurants.

Danville is the fifth location to receive approval for the casino development under the 2019 expanded gaming law signed by Gov. J. B. Pritzker. The measure paved the way for six new casinos in Illinois. Now, there's only one piece of the legislation remaining, a highly-coveted Chicago license.

Next up, an off-duty officer at Las Vegas PD is accused of robbing a casino and suspected of two other robberies.

Caleb Rogers, aged 33, is now facing federal charges of interference with commerce by robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Rogers was arrested on February 27, during an attempted robbery at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. He held two employees at gunpoint, before jumping over the counter and snatching $78,898.

As he attempted to run away towards the parking garage, Rogers was tackled by a security guard, who kept him under control until police arrived. The officers discovered that the robber had a department-issued Ruger revolver on him.

Rogers is now also a suspect in robberies of Red Rock and Aliante casinos.

In our next story, Atlanta Falcons star, Calvin Ridley, has been suspended after the league discovered he was betting on NFL games. Ridley will now miss the entire 2022 football season.

NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, stated that Ridley's action endangered the game's integrity and damaged the public image of the league and his fellow players. The player responded in a series of tweets, expressing his disbelief in punishment. Ridley also added that he only bet $1.500 and that he doesn't have a gambling problem.

Some of football's most prominent figures, such as legendary QB Troy Aikman, accused the league of hypocrisy in handling Ridley's case. Aikman said that the punishment was too severe, especially considering the NFL's new positive stance on gambling and promotion of sports betting.

In our last story this week, Ceasars Sportsbook has announced the plans to launch the new mobile betting app for horse racing. The racebook app should be available to bettors this spring.

The new Ceasars' platform will be based on the NYRABets, the advance-deposit betting application developed by New York Racing Association. The partnership with the association will provide Ceasars with access to over 250 race tracks all over the world. Users of the new racebook app will be able to earn reward points similar to the already existing online sportsbook platform by the same provider.

The new deal expands the partnership between Ceasars and NYRA. The Las Vegas-based casino operator is already the association's official sports betting partner. As a part of the agreement, Ceasars sponsors the Turf Triple Series.
